This beautifully crafted antique Victorian style, decorative handled basket is a rare and highly collectible piece made from electro-plated (EP) Britannia metal. Manufactured by James Dixon & Sons in Sheffield, England, this company was known for its pewterware and plated metalware during the early 19th century. The basket features exquisite ornamentation, including four elegant ball feet and embossed scrolling and leaf designs along the rim. The underside of the basket is hallmarked with the Dixon trademark, which includes a trumpet and banner, along with a registered design and model number.
Circa: 1910 - although the” trumpet and banner” trademark was registered in 1879.
