This is a beautifully crafted vintage porcelain teacup and side plate set from 1952, made in Japan by Superior Quality. Both pieces are matching and were originally part of a three-piece trio set. The design is bold and colourful, featuring a striking geometric pattern in vibrant pink and sky blue, reminiscent of "candy fairy floss." Each piece is trimmed with gold gilt and bears a trademark identification gold backstamp with a crown and wreath on the underside. Although the side plate is not a saucer, it complements the teacup perfectly and sits gracefully alongside it.
Measurements approximately:
Teacup has a flat base, a tapered design, and measures:
W x 10.2cm, top rim including handle
H x 6.5 cm
150 ml capacity.
The side-plate has an oblong, round design and measures 15.4 cm at its widest points.
Condition:
Excellent vintage condition with minimal wear. Some wear to the gold gilt on the teacup handle.
There are no chips, cracks, repairs, stains or crazing.
